European Day of Action - 48 hours to go!
The Party of European Socialists is marking Europe Day - May 9th - with a European election ‘Day of Action’ (EDA) involving its member parties, all campaigning on the theme ‘A New Social Europe- giving people a fairer deal’ (click here to find more info in the PES press release).
In at least 14 member states PES member parties will organise activities, events and meeting on the same issue and in the same time (click here to consult the list of the events or check the googlemap).
More than 30 events are planned all over Europe, among which a flagship event that will take place in Athens, where speakers will include PES President Poul Nyrup Rasmussen and the President of PASOK and the Socialist International George Papandreou.
“A new social Europe - Giving people a fairer deal” is not the first PES European Day of Action. On March 8th, we held our first EDA to celebrate International Women’s Day, when large numbers of activists and member parties were mobilised for meetings, debates, rallies and campaigning over the weekend, with great success (check the campaign website to read the report and see the pictures), one we plan to match this Saturday.
Also this time, the campaign blog will ensure a constant live coverage of the events through twitter updates from the ground, live blogging, posts, photos and videos…
